Yesterday in the student lounge, we held a special Aussie food tasting activity! There are lots of special treats and savoury snacks that are very poplular in Australia and we got to learn (and taste!) more about them.
We had a range of delicious (and some not so delicious…!) foods to try:
- Musk Sticks (pink semi-soft sweet stick with floral, musk flavours)
- Allen’s Red Frogs (chewy jelly treats)
- Macadamia Nuts (found in both New South Wales & Queensland)
- Anzac Biscuits (oat biscuits)
- Vegemite (yeast extract spread, popular with toast!)
- Mini meat pies (pastry pies filled with meat, gravy, onion, mushrooms & cheese)
- Sausage Rolls (savoury pastry snack & popular party food)
- Caramello Koala (chocolate bar filled with caramel)
- Tim Tams (chocolate covered biscuits)
- Lamingtons (a small sponge cake square coated in chocolate and coconut)
Among the favourites were TimTams and sausage rolls! 🙂
Brave students trying Vegemite… 😀
Everyone enjoyed the delicious treats and our Hiroshima Juniors got to mingle with some of the others students from their classes too 🙂
Have YOU tried all of these Aussie favourites yet!? 😉
