Legend has it that two warriors fought over the love of a girl, one of the warriors was Coolum the other Ninderry.
The warriors fought and Coolum died his head became Mudjimba Island and his body laying on its side became the famous Mount Coolum itself. Ninderry was turned to stone by the elders and gods of the dream time. Maroochy cried and cried for Coolum making the Maroochydore River. This is the tragic love story of Coolum and Maroochy.
Today our students ventured up Mt. Coolum and listened to the story from their activity co-ordinator Nathan. A story from the Aboriginal Dream Time. The hike to the summit is only 1.6 kilometers but at times it is rather steep. A little difficult, but all of the students stepped up to challenge and made it to the top of the mountain.
The first students to the top included Sarah, Victoire and Kio they joined with Nathan to enjoy the scenery first, soon after the other students started to arrive at the summit.
From the top beautiful panoramic views can be seen south to Maroochydore, east to the Pacific Ocean, west to Ninderry and north to Noosa.
