Land Ahoy!

TAP students at Global Village in Noosa are always enjoying fantastic activities.  Today they were out on the river for a spot of Pontoon Boating.

For some students it was their first time behind the wheel of a motor powered vessel.  The excitement of navigating through the pristine waters of Noosa River alongside million dollar catamaran yachts and waving to people passing by on other boats.

We motored along the river to Tewantin before turning back and heading to the river mouth, here the ocean meets the river.  All students took a turn at the helm some only for a little while.  Akira was at the wheel when we were bounced over the wake of two passing boats.  Water rushed in over the deck and wet everyone, students hooted and laughed at the two boats as they quickly motored away.

It was time to take the group to a secret sand island that is only above sea level at low tide!  We cast off the bow lines and anchored for some exploring of this sandy land that would soon again be the bottom of the river.  Students searched through the shallows looking for crabs, fish and other creatures of the sea.

A large flock of Sea Terns (native birds) spooked by our presence took flight and chased through the air until they decided on a less busy part of the island to land upon.  Moe’ found a larger Spanner Crab and impressed all her friends by catching it with her hands.

“All aboard!”  It was time to leave.  Our visit to the lost land in the middle of Noosa River was over.  Now it was time to head back to port.  Which is actually left when you are boating.  Somehow I’m not convinced that Akira understood that when he was driving the boat!
