Marine Life and Protection

What exactly is out there in the ocean that we all love to swim, surf and play in?

Today our students were able to ask questions about the big blue Pacific Ocean which wraps around the Eastern shores of Australia.  Global Village Noosa was pleased to present marine expert, Richard to all of the TAP students.  Richard came to the college loaded with marine species like Sea Stars, Sea Cucumbers and Turtles.  He even had a small shark for our students to see and touch.

Richard taught our students the importance of Australia’s marine life and the necessity of its protection. His lesson also included the possible dangers you may encounter in the deep-sea, nearby rivers and estuaries that run into the ocean.  Richard also enforced how important it is to swim between the  red and yellow flags and how to react if you are caught in a rip or current.

The highlight of his presentation was when our students actually got to touch the animals!  Students were excited and amazed at how the marine animals felt, soft, squishy and sometimes hard!  This was not exactly how they expected them to feel!

It was indeed an unforgettable and educational afternoon for everyone.
