Adam and Callum from Master Chef Australia are good but they’ve got another round to beat! TAP students turned up the heat, firing away mocktail after mocktail in an urge to be the best mocktail makers at Global Village Noosa last Friday night.
The students were assigned a mission, to design three types of mocktails, buy the ingredients and make them within one hour using a blender, shaker and other kitchen items. Later on the students would be judged on presentation, taste and originality.
Ready, Set, Go! The blender began to buzz, the shaker started to shake, knives chopped , the iPod played, nationalities mixed and the race was on. One by one mocktails were created, perfected and placed carefully into the fridge for the final presentation.
The Koala Team made a Koolawadoo, Green and an A grade Aboriginal mocktail.
The GV Green Lights designed fresh flavour mocktails, Pink Beach, Orange and the award winning, Sunrise.
Fabulous Master were hoping to win with their wildly presented Teqyellow, Noosa Beach Paradise and Climb on Trees inventions but missed out by three points.
It was Shooting Mocktails who came up with the most original, tasteful and well presented mocktails Explosive Fred, Sunset and Child Choc.
Judge Victoire, had the pleasure of tasting all mocktails and was very impressed with the level of master design.
Also turning up the heat was Dominos Pizza in Noosaville. Right on time as always, the dominos crew delivered 15 hot pizzas. The TAP’s could choose from Vegetarian, Meatlovers, Surpreme, Godfather or Double Bacon and Cheese toppings. They were so delicious and warm. Everybody deserved a good feed after the hard work they put into their Mocktail designs.
The heat was on when birthday boy from Japan, Naohiro, was surprised with burning candles on top of a chocolate mud cake. The Mocktail Masters made it extra special by singing Happy Birthday three times, of course, one time had to be sang in French!
Nadia and Victoire explained to Naohiro that it was part of Australian and French culture to kiss a girl when you cut a cake and the knife comes out dirty and if the knife comes out clean, then you don’t have to kiss.
Naohiro’s knife came out dirty, so Victoire got lucky when Nao pressed his lips against her cheek.
Congratulations Shooting Mocktails! You created some amazing flavours and designs. Maybe Victoire’s favourite and highest scoring mocktail of them all, Child Choc, will be added to the bar menu of a famous fine dining restaraunt someday?
