Didgeridoo, Didgeridoo, Didgeridoo….

Global Village Noosa students enjoying the teenage activity program took part in a Didgeridoo lesson with Scott from Bush Labs.

Almost thirty students took part in learning to play the famous Australian Aboriginal instrument the Didgeridoo.  Students gathered around sitting cross legged before their teacher at Noosa Fair this afternoon just like being part of an Aboriginal gathering and under the careful instruction of Scott they learnt how to play the Didgeridoo.

Students were taught breathing techniques and various ways to get a range of noises from your didgeridoo. They also learnt some history of the instrument how they are made and why it is actually called the Didgeridoo.

Masohiko Hasegawa from Japan and other students including Alex Puech and Claire Fayolle from France were naturals on the Didgeridoo.  Whilst all students managed to get a noise of some description from the instrument, they all had a very fun time learning to play.

The lesson finished off with Scott telling a story of man hitch hiking from Adelaide in South Australia to Darwin in the Northern Territory and all on the Didgeridoo!  Show casing his talent and perhaps encouraging any young budding Didgeridoo players within the group to keep on playing and mastering their techniques.

  1. Hey everyone! Thanks to all the GV students who came along to learn all about the didjeridu at Noosa Fair Shopping Centre on Tuesday 27 July 2010. Together we blew the rainy blues away and had a ball learning to play! You can see all the photos from the day, as well as other photos from past workshops by visiting “BushLab Didjeridu” on Facebook! Happy didjing! Scott
