Back in the 1960’s surfers would crowd the line up, all paddling into the same wave and riding it towards the sandy shores.
The group of teenage surfers scored some great waves and shared the ‘aloha’ spirit of riding surf together yesterday. Even though you wouldn’t call it ‘Big Wednesday’, there was plenty of wave sharing and surfing. The perfect, small, clean and not too crowded waves made a great afternoon of surfing.
An ideal way for students to relax after a hard morning of studying in the classroom.
Some of the stand out surfers for the day included Masato Yasaki from Japan on his first ever surfing lesson, Claire Fayolle who was into her second lesson and ripping up the waves. Another standout for the day was Alex Puech who was out with a sprained ankle half way through his lesson. Alex hopes to be back out in the waves again soon. With such ideal surfing conditions even the instructors and activity coordinator Nathan Katterns from Global Village joined the students in some riding and surfing towards the end of the lesson.
