Yesterday Global Village TAP students from Noosa spent the afternoon with their shoes off on a sandy court facing an opposing team for a round of volleyball.
The two teams, the Sharks and the Dolphins, warmed up with some stretches and then practised various skills before setting into competition mode. Marine from France who was initially shy of the ball, was soon setting and serving like a pro! Happy with their skills the two epic teams were formed and a gnarly contest would soon follow. The teams, eight members strong on each side, competed in six matches before the tournament could be rightly given a winning a team.
Players from each side took to the court with both skill and finesse, gritting their toes in the sand and wiping the sweat from their brows. Players were continually setting the ball for a mate, digging the ball up and spiking it down, in hope of scoring a winning shot against the opposing team. There was plenty of falling over and tearing of clothing as the competition heated up and players entered a league of their own, all for the love of the game.
Killer Claire was named by her serves and shots that seemed to be aimed directly at her opponent’s heads. No one wanted to be on the receiving end of her powerful hits, meanwhile Alex the ‘Decider’, was busy calling “Second serve!” and ripping his shorts diving for the ball. We will not forget the perfect form and technique of Pascale who set with style and showed her skills in each round of play.
All players competed with great eagerness and after a gruelling six games the Sharks were victorious over the Dolphins. Perhaps a rematch will be in the near future. One thing is for certain, everyone thoroughly enjoyed the afternoon of Beach Volleyball.
